I don't know if it's a bug or not but when I left one alone healing myself back up, randomly one would fall away. Don't count on this though all the time. This is just what happened to me, I haven't found anyone else on my server to discuss any details.

I came across Aeonaxx almost due west of the Temple of Earth at and altitude approximately the same as the stonecore portal. He was flying clockwise around the temple but about halfway between it and the "wall" of the cavern at the time I encountered him.

I flew in close and clicked to mount him I was unable to attack him or the adds he summoned at first. Thankfully I had just finished tanking the Stonecore and was still in my tank gear and spec.

I found that if I scrolled my camera to look straight down he was targettable for about 1 minute and after that minute he would be deselcted and untargetttable for about another minute. With him selected I was able to pop battleshout and then thunderclap which did do damage to him By the time I got him down to around k I was getting very frustrated and started messing around while waiting for the CD on BS to come up so I could thunderclap again when I found the "trick" I used to kill him.

I found that when I manually rotated my character to face his tail after he became targettable that I was suddenly able to melee him and do some serious damage to his health pool. His pathing he takes while you are riding him seems to be almost random, flying around all of Deepholm, not just circling the tower. When I finally did kill him I waited till he was close enough to the ground that I wouldn't die from the impact the parachute did deploy and I was able to loot the reigns.

Note: He starts out as a "Silver" rare elite, but when you mount him he turns into a regular "gold" elite. The only interface chance that happens is you get the "dismount" arrow showing up, nothing else changes. Due to him changing from a Rare Elite to a Regular Elite is probably why if you fail to kill him he despawns. Friendly until mounted you fight him and I couldn't fight him at first with any abilties but ranged, I grew frightened didn't know what to do and started turning surprisingly enough I started to melee him when I faced his tail No one can help you kill him he's too fast. My guildies couldn't even roll on it after trying to follow me and being in my party So if you see him and you're a melee class just turn around to his tail and start whackin him, he falls pretty easy I killed the adds he spawned and healed myself to full.

It currently is bugged also the drake and does not hold you on it's top but puts you in the sitting position within his claws I can answer anything else I don't know the cords exactly since I have started to run without mods, but as I said Stonecore height at least in front of the temple if you were to exit it from foot, has a vehicle enter ability and uhmmm that's all I can think of. Best time for any healing, evo, bandage, etc is directly after an add is downed, as you have a solid seconds of no dmg coming in at this point. Aeonaxx does no dmg himself. It seemed to patrol the inner circle of deepholm. Its a rare, but friendly, mob. It spawned for me dirrectly west of the Temple. He flys at roughly the same level as the Stonecore entrance Aproaching it you are given an option to ride it, as you would a normal vehicle. Upon "mounting" it he becomes hostile and a message appears saying "Defeat Aeonaxx before you are overwhelmed by whelps" He begins summoning whelps while flying EXTREMELY fast around Deepholm, but I dont know if it was a bug, or if its suppose to be like that but for me they the whelps did nothing apart from follow us, then despawn, then more appeared over time, which also eventually despawned.

Also once engaging him he begins to fly rather high. So, killing him Seriously, as a melee ret paladin I could barely hit him. I relied on Judgements and Exorcisms to do most of the damage. While on his back you cant move and even though your on him alot of your attacks wont be able to reach him, the trick to getting around this is to turn your camera about until you find the "sweet spot" where your attacks magically become inrange.

Its a REALLY frustrating bug, due to this it took me atleast 5 minutes, maybe more like 10, to kill him, also sometimes he randomly untargets. Once defeated, your thrown off his back and given a parachute, while his body falls to the floor. Simply hover down and collect your new drake. Note: currently its bugged, upon mounting the actual item your character appears not on its back but underneath its frontal legs. Good Luck. I sat on the ledge that is just to the south of the entrance of the Stonecore and NPCScan found him from there. He was flying North rather slowly, looking like he was going to circle the Temple of Earth. I did not hang around to watch him patrol given the large number of people in the area. I flew up to him and got on, and discovered that as a Hunter I was unable to shoot him with my ranged weapon ; I had to melee him.

This took me about twenty minutes. At first I was getting the error messages of "you are facing the wrong way" or "target too close". I tried turning my camera towards his tail, which sort of worked, but I was still having a lot of problems being unable to hit him. I finally resolved this by physically turning my character towards his tail , and then was able to hit him The whelps did not cause me much trouble, I was able to shoot them with ranged and they died in about two hits.

They also didn't seem to attack me unless I attacked them first, and would sometimes fall away and despawn without having done anything to me. I was trying to kill them, and did not see how many whelps would show up, or if they would despawn indefinitely. When I finally killed him, I looted the mount and got on it, only to discover the problem that others have reported, that he sort of looks like he is carrying you in his claws instead of riding on his back.

I did notice that my character got very small, and that when the mount shakes his head or anything, my character will move as though she is sitting on it's neck, in the saddle. I reported this to Blizzard. Congratulations to all the other people who got lucky with this mount, it is a very beautiful dragon and very much worth it in my opinion. And to those still on the hunt, Good luck! As a side note of interest, when walking on the ground with this mount it will make the stomping noises similarly to corehounds or giants.

I am not sure where he pats because there were many people around and I jumped on him as soon as I saw him. I was right around 45, 53 when I watched him spawn. I was farming him by flying in a counter-clockwise circle around the Temple of Earth. The fight itself is simple. As many have said, you just have to spin around to face his tail and beat the tar out of him until he is dead.

When you mount him, aim towards his tail, otherwise you can't hit him or the adds. If you can heal, it's just a non-attacking raid boss with 2 whelps on occasion. He was off to the right from the entrance of the Stonecore. Up a little higher than the instances eye level.

I stayed at the eye level of the small blue pillar just above The Stonecore entrance. Then I saw him spawn right under me. There were other players camping for him, but I managed to nab him.

You can mount him from your flying mount. As soon as you mount him, he becomes hostile and takes you for a ride around Deepholm. He didn't sick really any drakes on me. So I didn't have to worry about them. I had to click on his head to target him, but you have you move around until he is in line of sight. Sometimes he will move out of it, or it will untarget. I just had to click on his head again and move around till I could attack him. The fight only took minutes for me.

I finished him near the entrance of the Crumbling Depths. Looted, then summoned my new mount. Don't give up! As long as you're patient, you will see him spawn! I almost gave up. I flew around the Stonecore entrance for a bit until spotting him. Caught sight of him after awhile. He was farther out than I expected, if that helps. Also, was easy to down as a 85 ilvl prot pally, although I wasn't hit enough from whelps to recover my mana and so the fight dragged on for several minutes as most of the time I was pretty low and waiting on mana regen from my Judgements and Arcane Torrents. Whelps hit for a measly 1.

Just wanted to tell that i got this baby 2 days ago. Was done with daily quest at Therazane and saw this flying over my head as i almost got to the entrance at the temple. Mounted him and flew around a bit before i killed him. And the loot was awesome..

Regards ;. Comment by I just took Aeonaxx down as a survival hunter - after the initial mounting and panic of what to do I just turned towards his tail and spammed raptor strike. Whenever an add would show up I would just tab target it and use multi-shot, and it would sometimes give Aeonaxx my serpent sting effect. As long as the adds go down quickly it is completely possible as a hunter, although it takes around 10 minutes to bring him down. Just be patient.

By the time reached a full degree rotation of the Temple, he was steady at an altitude roughly equal to the Stonecore dungeon entrance. Another pally was unable to confirm - possibly horde mounted him - but reins are still unlinkable. I followed as long as I could, and observed pathing once mounted similar to previous posts. I did not get any screenshots, due to my pounding heart and hasty attempts to keep up. I'm going to keep at it Good luck all!

Lore: Well unfortunately when my scan went off I disconnected. Logged back on to see a horde mounted on it flying circles around earth temple. I started my camp again after 6hrs and when I was logged off for 4hrs for sleep and came back on, the same horde camper was underneath me so I didnt think aeon spawned. Now to fast forward you 2 days Rare: Xariona Camp Time: 40ish some hrs. However this is leaving me to believe that these 2 rares share a spawn timer.

I'm continuing my camp regardless Xariona flying around above me. Make the other posts similar to this style. It will benefit everyone by seeing spawn times and locations and to determine if these drakes are in fact sharing a spawn timer.

Spotted NW of the temple, flying counterclockwise at the height of stonecore entrance. Being a hunter, this was a very long fight. Can only be meleed when facing roughly toward tail. The adds come one at a time, and hover near her head. As counterintuitive as it may be, the adds can only be shot with your bow when you face the tail with your back to them. Took me about 20 min to kill this dragon, but I took no damage whatsoever from the adds.

So while it is a long fight, it is also an easy one if done correctly. Note: Cannot use pet or traps. Comment by I downed him last night about server time on Tichondrius. The good thing is that I was able to DPS the adds. THe mount is bugged too, I am sitting When flying. As a Hunter I could not use any range, so the only option was to use my staff. I just turned and faced the wing and was able to hit the drake. At one point, the drake lower it's head and I got hit for 14k, at which point I feign death, got back up and went to work on the wing again, and I never got hit after that.

I think it might have bugged. Funny thing is, I wasn't looking for it and didn't even know it dropped a mount untill a Rogue ask me to dismount for 10k gold, I just thought it was a quest of some sort, lol.

It has undoubtably been more than a week, and the drake has yet to be cached again. I think this is subtle proof that Aeonaxx could possibly have a longer spawn timer than originally anticipated, or perhaps it is just a really rare alternative spawn of the Bloodsucker.

I was on my way to hand in a quest at the Temple of Earth and decided to have a look. I was dissappointed not to see him, but when I turned around, There he was.

I quickly flew over to mount him, but he wasn't moving. I assume he only just spawned. Combat: I could only hit him facing his head and within the 5 minute fight I was Prot-ret He spawned about 5 whelps. He gave me roughly 2 bars of exp too! Also, there was a good 6 people around the corpse when I had landed.

You still discover the zone as you fly around if you already haven't. The "little whelps" actually have the stone dragon models, and are bigger than you. Aeonaxx is just huge. Hes a rare elite friendly, then just elite in the fight, then rare elite when he dies. I spotted him above the goblin shaman quest giver, but at the same level as the stonecore entrance. The drake is bugged when mounted. You are shown to be "grabbed" by his front claws.

During this time I think there was a spawn when I was asleep the first night but I do not have any proof of this it is just that the reins were linkable after that night. A little bit west of Initiate Goldmine, he is standing just west of Temple of Earth entrance.

My altitude was about Stonecore entrance. I think this is the best place since it covers most "known" spawnpoints. Aeonaxx spawned down in Quartsize Basin and began flying upwards in a spiral.
